Designed in 1928 by Stanley Thompson–a Canadian golf master architect–the Banff Springs golf course originally had 18 holes. In 1989, another 9 holes were added. Now this Banff golf course runs parallel to the Bow River and is overlooked by Sulphur Mountain and Mount Rundle.

Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course Details

  • Dress code: Banff golfers should take note: there is a dress code in effect for this course: no denim pants, shorts, or shirts; no sweat pants or sweat shorts. Men must wear collared shirts. Shorts should be dress shorts with five-inch inseam.
  • Soft Spikes: Shoes must be soft soled and soft spikes are mandatory. Soft spikes can be purchased from the Fairmont Banff Pro Shop.

Improve the long or short aspects of your game, fine-tune your golf swing and enroll in the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Academy. Spend a half day with a Banff golf pro. Offered at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily; duration is three hours. Contact the concierge for reservations.
